The Watermill, Little Salkeld, Cumbria

The Watermill, Little Salkeld, Cumbria is a tearoom, millshop, working mill and gallery restored 1975 and supplies a range of bio-dynamic and organic stoneground flours.

Larch Cottage Nurseries

Larch Cottage Nurseries has evolved over the last twenty years now situated within Romanesque style ruined walls offering one of the most comprehensive ranges of hardy perennials and cottage garden plants in Britain. The walled gardens from which plants are sold seems to grow each time we visit. The place is a wonder to behold, featuring several individual areas, including a Japanese dry garden, monastic herb garden, medieval courtyard and gothic plant house. The surrounding these are a set of large herbaceous borders. Combine your visit with a relaxing coffee and endulgent cake at the excellent cafe or a visit to the newly opened Red Barn art gallery.

The Jumble Room Grasmere

One of our favourite stops for coffee in Grasmere especially in winter is the intimate surroundings of The Jumble Room Grasmere. Decorated with several culinary awards this is a must for any visit to the Lake District. Tucked away a on Langdale Road this is an easy place to miss for all but the more inquisitive traveller. Small and friendly atmosphere with fine art paintings and interesting trinkets available too. Map

Causey Pike

Causey Pike is an impressive peak standing alone from its' neighbours offering superb clear views of the northern Lake District. The ascent is very steep and slightly craggy in places which means it is a great introduction for someone wanting to try scrambling.
