SummitPost.org - Scafell Pike Climbing Information

SummitPost.org - Scafell Pike Climbing Information: "Scafell Pike is the highest summit in England, at 977 meters. It is located in the Cumbrian Moutains, and located in what is known as the Lake District in NW England not too far south of Scotland. Many people climb the mountain all year round, and this is one of the best preserved hill sections in all the UK, despite the fact that the area can seem to be a 'tourist trap'. The summit can be reached by just walking over rough terrian or by a number of scrambles at varying grades. The mountain can be combined with other mountains/hills in the surrounding area of the Lake District. The Lake District is is easily accessable via the M6 and other main roads take you into the centre, but to reach the starting point the roads become narrower and windier."
